The best things often come when unexpected - a pay-it-forward drink at Starbucks, a friendly hello text from an old friend, finding a $20 bill in a pair of jeans that you can finally squeeze back into, and recently, an email.
Every morning, I have to force myself to quickly delete all the promotional emails that seep into my Gmail account. "25% All Purchased, Today Only!," "Flash Sale," "Additional 25% off all Clearance," etc. It's seriously a financial death trap and I really should unroll from a good amount of these retailers but...what if I miss a good deal?! I can already imagine the fella rolling his eyes as he chuckles at me. But jokes on him because I actually did come across a great deal that he can also benefit from!
Over the past couple of months, I have been toying with the idea of signing up with ClassPass. A part of me felt guilty since I already have a 24 Hour Fitness membership but the other part of me really wanted to add some new fun workouts into the mix. The folks over at ClassPass must have sensed my contemplation because they recently emailed me an amazing discount. Instead of $60/month for their basic subscription (5 classes max for the month), it was $30/month for THREE months! Well, the consumer in me was sold and I actually ended up purchasing a three month subscription for not just myself, but the fella as well! We both enjoy staying active so I thought that this would be a great way to switch up date night! It still allows us to explore new places but instead of just consuming calories, we can burn some off first :).
Since we plan to maximize our subscription, the fella and I are aiming to try out a class once a week and share some feedback from a "his" and "her's" perspective. Read on to see where we went for our first ClassPass class!
Studio: BeSpoke Cycle Studio
Date/Time: January 7th, 2017 @ 10:45AM
Normal Price: $28/45 - 60 minute ride or $21/express ride
Instructor: Jackson Smith
Her: I actually have spun at BeSpoke before and absolutely love it! The seats on the bike are more comfortable than the ones at SoulCycle and there is room on the handle area to place my phone and water bottle. My lack of balance is extremely grateful because the reach for the water bottom is much easier to grab than if placed at the frame of the bike. Our instructor, Jackson, was ahhhhhmazing! He's extremely friendly and was a great burst of energy. I also loved his commentating - it had me smiling/laughing throughout the hour. I would definitely like to try to come back to take his booty toning session!
His: I really didn't know what to expect because Vicki failed to refresh me about her experience a few weeks ago. I cycle recreationally so I didn't think it would be too bad. It was a kind of weird at first with the choreography - I just thought we were going to cycle! I didn't know push ups and weights were involved. The instructor was pretty entertaining and nice - he chatted with me a bit after class and gave me some good feedback. Oh, the cold eucalyptus towel at end of class was pretty nice. I wouldn't mind coming back.
Check back in next week to see our next fitness adventure!
